LAW ENFORCEMENT CADETS

The Law Enforcement Cadets are boys and girls, 14 to 21, supervised and mentored by West Los Angeles  Community Police station officers.  Cadets are utilized in non-hazardous police assignments such as crime scene and missing juvenile searches, parades, golf tournaments, 10K runs and fingerprinting.

The aim of this program is to mold young people into productive members of the community by developing their leadership potential and emphasizing values that promote good citizenship and community service.

They also work at the station's front desk and help out with other administrative activities.  As a reward for their public service, LAPD Cadets are taken on recreational and educational outings.

Although the city provides police officers to coordinate these youth programs, it has little funding for them.  These worthy endeavors are supported by work details conducted by the Law Enforcement Cadets, and donations from the general public.
